Has anyone seen any data linking vtimin D deficiency and obstructive sleep apnea?
I began looking at the list of associated conditions to OSA and have this short list;
Hypertension
Coronary artery disease
Myocardial infarction
Stroke
Psychiatric problems (see Psychological problems) Impotence Cognitive dysfunction (see Cognitive impairment)
Memory loss
Obesity
DiabetesAll of the above are also tied to vitamin D deficiency in recent research.
Although some of them are a function of modern behavioral nonsense. For example coronary artery disease is blockage, the primary blockage is cholesterol, one of the primary jobs of cholesterol is to be moved to the skin, exposed to solar UVB and converted to vitamin D. If the skin is covered with clothing or sunscreen the cholesterol cannot be converted to vitamin D and cholesterol builds in the bloodstream/arteries creating blockage. Since the body needs vitamin D and does not get it the body pumps more cholesterol into the bloodstream exacerbating the problem.
I would love to see a study on serum vitamin D and OSA. It could be the keystone to the problem.
Later,
Tom
