Hello,

The most important thing to maintaining your circadian slleep pattern is going to bed the same time every night. A dark room with no lights is also important. Light at night can interfere with the circadian sleep pattern.

I find that if I awake at night and cannot fall readily back to sleep to simply focus intently at the blackness of your closed eyes. Focus intently on the blackness and think quietly to yourself "be still" over and over.

If you have disturbed your circadian cycle due to getting up I have heard that a melatonin supplement 30 minutes prior to a standard bed time will help you to regain the circadian sleep cycle.

The best, all natual advice is not to get up, and lie quietly in the dark. Getting up and turning on a light can only make things worse in the nights ahead but putting your circadian cycle out of whack.

I would guess that bright light during the day will also be an aide. Go for a walk outside everyday to make a strong counterpoint to the night time darkness. Light and darkness are both components to programming the circadian cycle.
