When a sleep lab tests you to find the right levels, the lab is also likely to let you experiment with several devices. When I had my test, I tried two nasal pillows and two masks (for about 10 minutes each before starting my nighttime sleep). That testing could be very helpful to you in making your decision (though I actually found all four to be comfortable). Also, if you are using insurance to pay for the device, you may not necessarily qualify for some of the devices until you first show a need when using a more basic device. So it may not be good to set your hopes on a particular "deluxe" device.

Once the testing was completed, my doctor gave me the choice of getting the machine myself or having them sign me up with a service provider. I chose the latter because the service provider knew more than I did. Particularly when you are first starting, I think that especially makes sense because they can swap machines if one is not working well for you. Once you are experienced and know what you need, then perhaps there is less reason to use the service provider (though I still find mine to be helpful).
