After a year on CPAP, my apnea numbers have gone from 60+ to 31. Big improvement, but still severe. My doc has now prescribed a BiPAP, and I've been using a trial machine for 5 days now.
It took me only 2 nights to get used to the CPAP, but after only 10 or 15 minutes I'm ripping off my mask with the BiPAP because it makes me panicky and claustrophobic!! It doesn't seem to be really synching with my breathing rate, so after a little while I'll be trying to exhale while it's trying to force air into me. By the time the ramp is at 17, I'm already giving up, and I need to get to 23!
Does anyone have any advice? My RT has already adjusted it the best she can, to make it have longer intervals, but I seem to take longer breaths than it registers.
