If you are not having Central Apneas, you could ask that your machine be set to "demand" rather than "timed". I experienced the same thing you describe 17 years ago when I started BiPAP. My machines now synchronize to me rather than me to them. (I have 2 machines...one beside my bed and one beside my recliner.) The timing of my respirations changes with the stages of my sleep...i.e., I breathe more slowly as I sleep deeper and the timed setting on my machines didn't allow for that.
It's difficult for a respiratory tech to understand the difference unless he or she is a CPAP or BiPAP user.
