I have read about Post Nasal Drip on forums but assumed that this was an American term for catarrh which I also wrongly assumed was a trivial problem and easily dealt with. However, I developed a seriously dry feeling patch in my throat so used the heated humidifier but it didn't help, so I went to my General Practitioner yesterday, I was lucky because he was supervising a young just qualified lady doctor and as he was showing off I got to take part in a very interesting consultation. They both examined me pretty thoroughly and agreed that I had a swollen right-side neck gland and that they could see POST NASAL DRIP (I have never heard that before) and prescribed 14 days of Anti-biotics plus a steroid nasal spray. I have to go back after 14 days and if there is no improvement I am referred to the local hospital for a camera up my nose to look at the throat area, obviously I am hoping the treatment works but our doctors do work on the basis of 'try this and if it doesn't work come back and see me' which does not fill one with confidence. After that long story I would love to hear from my forum friends anything whatsoever about Post Nasal Drip, what works for them and how they deal with it - prescribed medication or over the counter - even alternative remedies. I hope you can help - this is driving me mad - gagging and clearing my throat every few minutes. EnglishEric
