Hello,

I do not want to sound like I am lecturing, but here goes...

You need to know what your serum vitamin D numbers are just like you need to know your cholesterol or blood pressure numbers. Some labs signify "normal" but are using obsolete definitions of normal for serum vitamin D. When you know your serum vitamin D number you then KNOW if you are in the 50-80 ng/ml range.

The big issue with vitamin D is if you are obese with a body mass index over 25 a lot of the vitamin D you supplement gets caught up in body fat and never is used by the body.

Obese people can require two to three times the amount of vitamin D daily to reach the same serum number as a person of healthy body mass index.

Most all of us on CPAP have weight to lose, it goes with the problem hand in glove.

I do not want to lecture but knowing the numbers and knowing what the correct ranges are are critical information in all aspects. Whenever a doctor says "normal" to me I ask "What are the numbers and what is the normal range?" and then I can research the data myself.

Sorry if I am lecturing. We have to learn to be self advocates and educated about our own issues and question short answers like "normal".
