Subject: Help to Decide which BiPAP to use

Dear Sir,
My wife is using a BiPAP machine-Puritan make GK425 right now for her OPCD+
problems. She has scoliosis and was operated to correct her spine related
problems 3-4 times. At this moment her lungs have become very weak, the
capacity and its functioning are poor.So far the above said BiPAP machine
was OK to restrict retantion of CO2 in her blood. She has a very shallow
breathing.Due to her recent RA factor going up and cosequately pains in her
rib cage bones, she could hardly breath and so CO2 retantion increased. It was
also observed for some time that her BiPAP would be running but at the EPAP
setting onlyand would hardly go to IPAP setting once in 20 seconds. Now the doctor has advised to change over to BiPAP with back up.Could you please advise whether I should go for BiPAP with ST mode or STD mode? Please inform which company's which model? How about Respironics make Synchrony wit ST mode?
Thanks in advance
Jitu
