I had a sleep study that showed I have a crazy amount of arousals each hour. I wake every few minutes! I think I had a few hundred during the entire study. But they said I did not have sleep apnea. The test even said on there to look into possible UARS for arousals.
I have always had large tonsils all my life. Had tonsilitis more than usual as a kid. Doctors always comment on my large tonsils. But didn't have insomnia for 26 years. Then I started slowly having it all of a sudden. I always used to love to sleep on my back, too. Now I noticed I can't fall asleep on my back-I have to be on my side. Like I said, I have arousals every few minutes. Plus, I'll find myself awake all of a sudden at night and not know why I woke up. I also have extremely vivid dreams. I don't have restful sleep. I'm always dreaming. I can usually recall every detail of the past 6 dreams I had that evening! Does any of this sound like UARS? If it does, what would be my first step? Getting a dr to write a prescription to try a sleep mask? Its so hard for me to sleep (cant sleep with any noise, etc.) I wonder if I'll be able to sleep with a mask on. Should I do that or try to have a study where they use a probe and test for UARS? Do you know of any labs in the south that do that?
Thank you SO much! I have a young daughter. My life is being destroyed by my insomnia.
