Hello Barb

The timed bi pap, trach and O2 are not a cure for the apnea. Just as a vent breathes for a person who is unable due to injury , my setup breathes for me when my brain cannot send messages to my body during sleep. I used a vent for several years and when it gave up I learned a timed bi pap did the same thing for me at a much lower cost.

With a damaged brain stem this is a perfect setup for me. Without mechanical ventilation the centrals destroy my sleep.

I would think that if a pap works for mixed apnea it would work for centrals as well.

Perhaps someone else can explain this better than I.

Take care.
