Posted by JG on May 17, 2010 at 17:49:05:I was diagnosed with sleep apnea in Europe, where I am living right now. I just started using the CPAP machine with constant pressure at 9 millibar (that's what they call it here but in the US, it seems, they call it cmH20). When I used it, I got the clear benefit of sleeping right through, and feeling well rested, such good sleep unlike any I have ever had before in the last 20+ years or longer. So I was very impressed. HOWEVER, I looked in the mirror after I slept with it, maybe a few times, and I noticed a GREEN-ISH tone on my face, probably due to CO2 intoxication, since it seems the exhaled breath does not really vacate fully, not even partially the nose mask or connecting hose, and it may be, probably, to some extent 'forced' back into the body, without 'transforming' itself into non-toxic air or gases (i.e. some of the CO2 maybe is pushed forcefully back inside the lungs, before it symbiosis-izes to "fresh breathable air", to use/adopt here a tentative word), since the incoming fresh air is pushed into the nose mask, where the same exhaled air is trying to exit the body. Anyway, it happened a few times, where I noticed a green-ish color in my face, as if I had been self-intoxicating, and I also noticed my stool thinning up quite a bit after of few days. I wonder if that could be a sympton from CO2 gas or exhaled air inhalation. I am 45 years old, healthy and athletic. Never had a colon problem before or noticeable, thining stool. Thank you.
