HA! Another person who uses the Dizzy reference!!

I'm not a mouth breather and never have been. I was using a nasal mask. But the soft pallet muscles would relax during the night and my mouth would fill with air. My cheeks would puff out, then the air would escape through mt lips. Made a lot of noise, and registers as a mask leak on the machine. The doc obviously didn't understand and said I needed a chin strap. I told her that my chin does not drop!! The air just comes out my mouth. She said, "You chin has to drop for the air to come out. You are just not aware of it." She suggested paper tape over my mouth AND a chin strap, Yes, I switched doctors.

I think it should be MANDATORY for doctors who do sleep studies to LIVE with and USE a CPAP for at least TWO WEEKS before they are allowed to "practice."

I'm using a full-face mask now, and no problems, other than it's harder to get a good seal all the way around sometimes.

And I guess it's a common side effect of using CPAP....a little "gassy" in the morning. Ain't it fun?
