People vary. Some people have a great night of sleep the first time they use CPAP and others take a while to adjust. Many give up, though I think many of them could be successful if they just persist and if they check forums like this for strategies that will help. So it's hard to say how CPAP would work for you immediately, but it's worth doing and sticking with, even if it is hard at the start. If you are successful in losing weight, that might help to lessen your apnea.

For any sleep disorder, it is good to practice good "sleep hygiene." You will sleep better if you have a regular pattern, always going to bed at the same time. You might also learn that certain things help or hinder sleep. For example, I personally find that exercise and a shower helps to clear my mind so that I sleep better, though many get stimulated by exercise. Some computer games tend to stimulate me, while reading or TV help most people to relax. Some people are helped by yoga.
