Sounds to me your doctor isn't asking the right questions. A good doc who
knows something about sleep apnea will ask a minimum of two good questions.
These are at the top of the list for me. "Has anyone observed you holding
your breath during sleep" and "Do you feel refreshed in the morning and
alert during the day".

If the answers are yes and no, it's close to a no-brainer. If the answers
are no and no, then further questions are necessary.

From what you have written I would vote for sleep apnea. However, I have
not seen your medical history, current meds, shape of your airway, etc.
which could point to something else.

Best wishes,
Sandman
