I was diagnosed with sleep apnea 2 yrs ago. I tried the full mask and it kept me up all night I tried it for 3 moths. I finally said I can not do this anymore. I gave it up. Then I have to have surgery so they said I had to have a mask to have surgery so I had to take another sleep study and get a machine again only this time I tried the nasal one. It was much better but it moved alot and still I wake up and take it off half way through the night. I don't think I ever slept completly through the night with it so I stopped using it. Lately I have been so sleepy I almost fall asleep driving.

Now to my question. 2000 yrs ago there was no such thing as this disorder unless its been around since the begining of time. I do not believe it has anthing to do with weight as I know many slim people with sleep apnea. I remember when I was a child I snored alot and people would joke about it. I was not heavy. was I born with some sort of disorder in my mouth or nose? Are people with sleep apnea born with some disorder in their nose and mouth? IF so how come we live so long? I am 56. I should have died years ago. I also have fibro and cfs. Among other things. But I am still trying to understand the whole reason for the machines and the whole diagnosis of sleep apnea. How long has it been recognised and who discovered that we needed machines to sleep? All people diagnosed need to be educated before they just go along with the program because someone selling an expensive machine to help you sleep. I am not saying it does not work. I am just wondering how it got to this point. So many seem to not be helped by the machines. We all are going to die from something someday. I just never heard of anyone dieing from sleep apnea. Okay I said alot and my post may upset some people but we all need to know what the complete story is. Just like cancer patients.
