Typically, in a sleep study, it is difficult to determine whether a central event is truly central or an obstructive event. Many times the movement sensors don't pick up
movement during a obstructive event. Sometimes the body will stop making effort
during an obstructive event and it will look central. One non-evasive way to
determine if they are truly central is to put on cpap. If they go away they were
obstructive, if they continue there is a good possibility they are actually central.Best wishes,
