It's funny how our attitudes change. I remember seeing a nasal pillow with a tube that wrapped over the nose and the top of the head; I couldn't imagine wearing that because I would feel like a rhinoceros, and it would divide my vision. But after having the tube get in the way while I kept it loose, I tried wrapping it over the top of my head and it worked wonderfully. I don't even bother taking it off if I get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. I just disconnect the tube.

I think both you and your husband can get used to it. My wife is glad to have me not snoring; the CPAP is much quieter than that. She sometimes wore earplugs. And she did get worried when we snuggled together (without CPAP) and she noticed I wasn't breathing. She is annoyed by the air that blows at her through the vents, but she copes.

As to whether you need to wear it all the time, I think the correct answer is: only when I'm sleeping.
