Thanks BC. He's had episodes of insomnia in the past that seem to come out of nowhere and last a couple of months then go. This episode has persisted for 6 months now and he's tried all kinds of sleep hygiene, cognitive behavioral tricks and sleep restriction. He has a bit of both insomnia, (onset and maintenance), probably more maintenance than onset though.

You're right, treating the apnea is good although whether it needs CPAP I'm not sure. His sleep study showed some fewer arousals in the period where he's lying on his side. I'm mainly just disappointed in the docs that they don't have much to say about his many non-breathing arousals. They really want to push the CPAP as the answer - maybe it will turn out to help.

Glad you found something that helped you.

For anyone following, I also posted on this in the Insomnia forum where there's some input.
