Sounds like a sleep disorder could be happening. You need a consult with a
sleep specialist. Could be nocturnal seizures which can be triggered by
sleep apnea.

Until you can see a sleep specialist one way to start looking at the
possibilities is taking the sleep test on this site. Not perfect but can
help point you in the right direction.

Many regular doctors aren't aware of sleep disorders so seeing a specialist
is important. It would be best if you saw a neurologist who is boarded in
sleep.
