Posted by worstinsomniaever on July 18, 2011 at 23:31:59:I've sadly been lurking on this board for about a year and a half. I have an extreme case of insomnia. I'm trying to figure out what the heck is going on since drs in my state are no help at all! (We're known for some of the worst doctors)
Can you PLEASE give me your take on this? Does it sound like uars?
6 hypopneas
5 Arousals- Resp count (yet underneath it, it says eeg arousal activity not associated with respiratory or plm events.
Resp index- 1.1
Spontaneous arousals- 58 in Non-rem and 1 in rem
Oxygen desaturation events- 1
Lots of snores on snore module
23 awakenings
131 sleep stage changes (in 4 hours!!) Isn't this a BIT excessive? Seems insane to me. What the heck is this indicative of? OSA? Narcolepsy? Anyone?
(I will tell you- my sleep does not feel normal at all. It honestly makes me feel sick. Most times, I feel I would feel better if I didn't sleep at all. It just gives me such a sick feeling. Its making my brain crazy literally.)
They are saying mean oxygen saturation and lowest level was 94%, yet on other page they say something else entirely. Other page says max sp02% was 100 and mean ws 93 and at one point it was between 80 and 89% and another it was below 50%? But then it says there was bad data. Argh.Just to throw in there- it appears I slept on back approx half the time (all hypopneas were on back) and on left side other half. So if I had slept on back the whole time, clearly there would have been more events right. Btw, I had a more recent sleep study about 6 months ago (this one is from two years ago)and the arousals had gone from about 60 to about 300?? And supposedly no sleep apnea?
I tried getting a study at stanford- wrote them a letter explaining my situation. Unfortunately, they can't do that for me. I can't work, haven't been able to in two years (too slowed thinking, told I was slow, cant remember anything, etc), I now have early menopause caused by the severe sleep deprivation I suffered at 28, osteoporosis, a really messed up brain lol, etc. And now I'm literally in a custody battle and about to lose my child. :(
I get we all have bad insomnia, but I'm not overexxagerating when I say I am the worst case. I show people pictures from two years ago and they say something is terribly wrong. I was a very pretty girl who now literally looks and has skin of a 50 something. In TWO years, I only fell asleep (how falling asleep used to feel) normally three times. It was so refreshing!! But then, so shortly after I woke up (still cant figure out why- would like to know why the heck why!)and went back to that awful sleep where you aren't really sleeping and just makes you feel soooooooo sick worse than if you hadn't slept at all. Its really tough on the brain/body to wake up like every two minutes or so! Sleeping pills don't do anything. Just make me dizzy, etc or ambien makes me hyper. Does it sound like xyrem would help me?? Is there any help?
I've also been show to have delta-alpha intrusion. (Is that why sleep makes me feel so sick? Its like I'm awake all night long and just go uncouncious for a minute here or there. what exactly is delta- alpha intrusion? I don't understand how our brain can be awake while we are sleep?! lol)Does anyone else experience this "sick" sort of sleep?
And please, don't suggest anxiety. I'm trying to find the real cause of my seriously screwed up sleep. It is ruining my life! I'm not anxious or exaggerating about my individual case.
Thanks!!!
