Sure could be. Kinda sounds like my situation 10 yrs ago when mine first started.
Is your REM is real low, and stage 3,4 low or non-existent with all of it bunched up into stage 2?
Can definitely cause anxiety, depression, etc. Been there, done that.
OSA can look just like insomnia.I've read about people that lost their family, job, everything, then years later found out it was apnea, got it fixed, and wanted all their stuff back! Sad indeed.
So have you tried CPAP yet? If not, do it.
