When I first started the machines were large, noisy and ineficient. The masks were hard and uncomfortable...and leaked all over. They have come a long way but I stayed with it and now sleep 7-8 hrs a day. well rested and no naps during the day. You may sk for a Full face mask which might not dry out the nose as much as the nasal pillows. A lot of it is trial and error. By the way..both my sons ages 41 and 44 have sleep apnea and have adjusted to the cpap. My younger son had a lot of problems caused y other sleep ailments but has come around through treatment by a sleep specialist with various medicationsfor his restless leg syndrome etc.
so stay with it for awhile and then go back to your sleep doc.
