Yes, it’s a similar issue. If you’re on the coast, you’re at or very near sea level, so I don’t think it’s related to the elevation.

In your case, you might try finding an add-on humidifier. Look for the oldest and plainest on possible. It won’t have some of those fancy features that are stopping it from functioning. Not great for travel, but OK for in-home use.
