Extreme dry eyes/mouth 1st time use

Used mask for first time last night, had severe dry eyes (had to keep putting droplets in my eyes) & severe dry mouth, severe thirst. Did not experience either of these in the overnight test with the mask. Had humidifier on, cold water (did not heat it). Pressure is 9, is that too high? There is air leakage on the hose that attaches near the nose, where the hose enters the rubber end (not adjustable wondering if there is a hole in hose or??). Is air going into sinuses & up into eye sockets?
