1.forehead pads:
note that there are 3 settings, and consider that you may even set it different left-right. The forehead pads shoe rest above the eyebrows, at least mine did. a problem i ran into was that after almost a year of trying to get a deecent fit i decided to buy a replacement mask . Lo and behoild it turns out that I wasn't given the right size gel cushion for the mask itself. Suddenly I am getting a better seal !! Maybe you just need the next size up in the mask.

2. how long??:
that depends on how oily your skin is, how often you wash the mask, etc etc. Do not wash with an antibacterial soap; the gel goes soft fast !! I wash 1-2 times a week and my newer mask is holding its shape much better.

3.port plug:
if you are referring to the squarish part above the nose I can only guess that is for additional oxygen input.

4.extra...
It was suggested to me re air in the eyes that I reverse the headgear. This is not a problem since I do not need a chin strap. Again, this solved the runny eye problem
