My thought on chokes, initially, where that AC current could be induced with the cord running near other AC power cords, such as a lamp on a nightstand, or a clock radio. But now that I think about it, if you have AC for that stuff, you'd run your CPAP on AC, not DC.
In situations where you are going to run on DC, it's probably because AC is not available. That now considered, about the only place I could see where the chokes would be of any use would be if you were using it as a passenger in a running vehicle. SInce it does come with the standard cigarette lighter plug, perhaps that is indeed the concern.
In my situation, I do alot of camping, so a marine battery was definitely the way to go.
One other option for a battery, is the units you find in auto department. It's a gel-cell (more properly called immobilized electrolyte) battery used to help jump start your car. It has the jumper cables to hook up to your batter, but it also has a cig lighter receptacle, as well as a light and flasher functions.
I found one on clearance for $20, normally $40. They can be charged either with an AC adaptor, or by plugging into your car lighter receptacle when driving.
I used this last weekend (after forgetting my AC power cord at home on a trip) and got two nights use out of it on my Solo LX set on 8cm. It was not fully charged at that time, so I imagine I might have gotten a third night out of it if it had been.
