Request for Info for wife's breathing disorder

Posted by Mike Stine on November 12, 1999 at 21:43:32:

Every so often, perhaps once a month, my wife will awaken from sleep and find that her airway is somehow constricted so that only a little air can get through. She makes this loud weezing sound and bends over to allow what little air that can get to her lungs. In a few minutes, her airway seems to relax and, although shaken, she can again breathing normally. As you can probably see, I get scared that she is dying and feel helpless as to what to do. She seems to know that she will get through this and waves me off when I go to call 911. But I worry for the day when her airway does not again open.

Can anyone tell me what my wife appears to be going through and how I can learn more about it? Thanks for your help.

Mike
