to know what you find out. Most of us don't ever see the results of the sleep studies, just take the doctor's word for it. I wouldn't have known what I was looking at when mine was done. I would probably be able to tell something now. As a matter of interest, mine was originally set at 6 and I subsequently raised it to 7. I was getting borderline snoring at 6. Without knowing for a fact, it seems that most machines increment 2 cm, so the doctors are going to round up as much as 1 or more from the titration test.
Is your 6 the result of a subsequent sleep study? Five cm is a lot of difference. You're right about one thing, it seems most doctors don't warn about what to expect in the first several weeks/months after beginning CPAP, the many postings here attest to that.
