Lawrence- In a valid sleep study one of the tests they do is put a mask on you and during your sleep, adjust the pressures up and down stopping at the point where they are registing apnias. They will normally vary off of that to check various pressures to make sure. But the one prescribed for you is the one that did the most good in halting your apnias. I have had my pressures changed to a lower setting after a few years on the machine but it was done with a sleep study to find that pressure. It simply is not a hit or miss situation in MOST sleep labs.Get a readout of the study from the lab and if possable get the doctor to go over the results with you.John
