Dear friends, if not able to provide any answers to this discussion thread about titration, I may be able to provide tomorrow some advice arising from an experiment I am going to conduct tomorrow. This experiment may show how you can lower your pressure slightly without altering the settings on your machine or causing risk to self. I will try it out when I visit Lucy, my cpap supplier, and can access her pressure measuring device.
I'll report back soonest.
I have discussed pressure with my own doctor, who is extremely competent in these matters. She worked with Professor Colin Sullivan, the "inventor" of CPAP therapy. Her view is that the initial pressure setting is only an approximation and that one may need to adjust slowly and incrementally, one point at a time, as required. If you drop a point in pressure and OSA symptoms have not returned, then drop another point, ad infinitum. (Well, not quite!) This can be done at home without the need of a sleep study but on the advice of your doctor.
