I had very little problems with the Mirage mask leaking, though it did occasionally pop apart in the middle of the night. My success with either the black or white chin straps was dismal. (I tried both) They never kept my lips together and air would leak out my mouth, making my mouth bone dry and nasty feeling by morning. On top of that, they both gave me nasty pus spots on the top of my head from the pressure of the top of the chin strap. And my chin broke out in eczema. On top of that, I kept fighting all night to keep my mouth shut, which really aggravated my TMJ problems.
I now have a full face mirage, which I found and ordered on the internet. It was delivered less than a week after I ordered it. It is not a perfect solution, by any means, as you have to guess on size on the internet. I ordered the medium, but I think it might be just a bit too big, as I get eye leaks sometimes. But I had waited over 2 months for my home care to get one in, and they never did. At least my TMJ has improved, as I no longer have to fight to keep my mouth shut.
The mirage nasal mask comes in 2 sizes, the full face mask in 3 sizes. Do you maybe need a different size mirage to fit? I used a regular size mirage nasal mask, and my husband uses a large.
One hint that has helped me. Wash the mask every morning with soap and water, and wash your face just before going to bed. It will help the mask seal better.
My husband is great about the cpap stuff, as he is on a Bi-Pap himself. I also have restless legs, so even if the cpap and mask are working perfectly, I still feel tired.
Gets pretty discouraging sometimes!
