There are three separate issues here: mouth breathing, mask leaking, and exhale puffs. The AutoAdjust LT can detect mask leaking and exhale puffs. An exhale puff is a nasal inhalation from a nasal mask followed by an oral exhalation into the atmosphere. Mask leaking is a continuous airflow rate that exceeds the baseline of the airflow from the exhalation port(s). Mouth breathing, which I would classify as oral inhalation, is not recorded by the AutoAdjust LT.
You are also correct that with a full face mask, exhale puffs cannot occur, however, the AutoAdjust LT records some exhale puffs even though I use a full face mask. Others have reported this as well. Sunrise medical could not give me an adequate explanation why this was occurring, but did say that whatever was being recorded were not really exhale puffs. MHAM
