Post-septoplasty/turbinate reduction nasal congestion

Posted by Roy(Boston) on February02, 2000 at 12:41:06:

I recently (Jan. 6, 2000) had septoplasty and turbinate reduction (along with UPPP and tonsilectomy--feeling good thanks) for mild sleep apnea. Since the splints came out about a week after the surgery, I seem to suffer from nasal congestion more that in the past. The congestion seems to act up mostly when I am indoors in a warm place or at night (indoors again). This, along with the fact that a couple of sprays of Afrin open the passages and blowing my nose doesn't help, leads me to believe that something up there is still swollen or prone to swelling.

Has anybody experienced similar problems after surgery. If so, how long (if ever) before things are back to normal. I haven't called the ENT yet on this one since I wanted to see if it would clear up on its own. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks.
