Larry:
I had UPPP, tonsilectomy, septoplasy and turbinate reduction performed on January 6, 2000. For me, other than day 1, days 8-10 were the worst. However, my problem really wasn't with the throat but rather with the hard palate. I was getting a strong pressure type pain there even from just drinking water and eating Jello. However, by day 11 or 12 this just suddenly went away and I was back on solid foods.
The sore throat lingered a bit. I would say it was a good three weeks before it was totally gone. At that magic 10-12 day mark I also ran out of prescription meds and went to Extra Strength Tylenol. I don't know if you are on liquid Tylenol or the caplets/capsules/geltabs. Personally, I found that while it was not a problem to swallow the caplets, the liquid (while admittedly considerably more expensive) not only worked MUCH faster, but also worked better.
Keep up the good recovery and let everyone know how you are progressing. I know that before my surgery I scoured these boards and the information I found made the whole thing a lot easier. This is our chance to help those who may follow in our footsteps. Good Luck.
Roy
