It sure can Bert. With the decreased oxygen flow, the heart tries to pump harder to get more oxygen flowing to the body. This can cause high blood pressure, heart disease leading to heart attack and strokes.
I also have a friend who has apnea who recently found out she has pulmonary hypertension. It used to be the only cure for that was a heart/lung transplant. Now they can use medication to decrease the pressure.
I was told that the apnea was mostly likely to blame for that. The damage it caused her makes her on oxygen 24 hrs a day. Makes me keep my mask on at night.
