Yes indeed, and I know from experience! I'm in my early 40's and just this past summer I was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, or an irreversible weakening of the heart muscle. After years of complaining to my doctor of symptoms of being tired, having panic-like attacks, night sweats, reflux and people teasing me of snoring since my 20's, I was "blown off" as a female (IMHO) as having an anxiety disorder/ or menopausal symptoms. It wasn't until I crashed with congestive heart failure and admitted to the hospital did a wonderful respiratory therapist note that I had periods of apnea and gasping for breath at night. I was diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea which is the most probable cause of my heart problems because there was no virus or other cause found. I now face a possible heart transplant down the road and numerous medications for the rest of my life. Sleep apnea is serious business, and believe you me I literally "hug" my life-saving CPAP machine at night! I really don't care about the red marks and noise, but am just thankful that I am now oxygenating my poor heart that has been deprived for so many years. I have been reading this forum for a few months now, and for those of you that think CPAP is not worth the hassle, PLEASE rethink your position because it will save you $$$$,grief, and possibly your life down the line. Best of luck to all of you that are suffering. Thelma
