I'm in the middle of the same BS with my DME/insurance. The DME basically told my Dr. that the insurance would NOT cover any of the stuff I requested (without even submitting it!) When I called them on it, it was the same stammering response "uhhh, based on our experience, that's what we've seen from BCBS." I also couldn't believe the 100 - 150% markup on the CPAP and mask based on the internet prices - INSANE! I made them give me their prices (they thought I would purchase from them) and then told them that I was going to buy from the internet and submit it to my insurance (with a side-by-side comparison of the marked up DME prices.) They were mad, but I could care less, usury is not an acceptable business practice to me!

Anyways, I have a sinking feeling that the insurance won't cover my claim since I went out of network, but I probably paid as much out of pocket as I would have paid in co-shares for the extremely mark-up goods from the DME (thank God for my medical reimbursement account!) Also, the AutoAdjust I just bought off the internet comes with the software and cable, I doubt that the $2000 one from the DME would have included that, lol!
