I have the same CPAP and mask. Having seen other CPAPs in a display, I can assure you this machine isn't remarkably different in size or shape from the rest of them. I have my machine sitting on a low shelf about 18" lower than my pillow, so maybe the sound is muffled, but I think the machine is pretty quiet, considering. Having heard several different CPAPs operating, I don't find the sound much different, either. In case you think my hearing is faulty, I can assure you it's fine--I'm a musician and quite sensitive to sounds.
As for price, I've just gotten a bill from my insurer and although I can't quite figure it out, it seems the CPAP costs about $500, rental is over $100, and all the various and sundry hoses and stuff cost about $300. One can rent the machine, but you might have to buy the hoses and mask and stuff because it can't always be sterilized and reused by someone else.
