Ronald,
I can't offer much insight on possible other areas of obstruction, but it seems as though your UPPP gave you significant improvement. As I said in my previous post, I had pretty much figured out where the obstruction was myself, and my surgeon concurred. I had my surgery on 1/20, so I have only an early sense of the results, which seem very good. I have to say it sounds as though your ENT is doing his or her best to eliminate all of the possibilities short of more surgery. That's a good thing.
One thing I can speak to from experience: GERD will cause you as much sleeplessness as apneas if not treated, not to mention daytime throat discomfort. Your ENT could be on to something here. Take your prilosec around dinner time (if you take it in the morning, it starts to wear off while you're still sleeping). Also, elevating the head of your bed about 2-3 inches might help. Weight loss also eases the pressure on your hiatal area! Worrying about nighttime reflux will make you anxious. But, from my experience, eating light (or not at all) after about 7 PM, taking a late dose of prilosec and elevating the head of your bed will fix that problem! Good luck with further treatment. Keep the faith.
