How hypothyroidism might cause apnea

I also was wondering about the cause and effect of hypothyroidism and apena. I think the reduced respiratory effect you describe makes sense, and could contribute to both central and obstructive apnea. Also, I would think muscle tone of the upper airway structures might suffer due to poor energy production in the muscles making them more prone to collapse. Plus, any weight gain from hypothyroidism would be a negative as well. MHAM
