Margaret: I also have a REMstar LX, set at 11, which I began using one year ago today. The noise level was fine at first, but it began to get worse a couple of months ago -- kept my wife awake. I took it back to Lincare, and they said the fan was loose.

The machine is now in being fixed. I have a REMstar LX loaner -- and it is nearly silent! Perhaps you should have your machine checked -- they DO get noisier sometimes!
