pacemaker for central sleep apnea?

my friend bud was diagnosed some time ago with central sleep apnea.neither meds or machines have helped.now the doc is suggesting putting a pacemaker in his diaphram.
i can find no info on this or anyone who has had the surgery.any input would be great.thankyou
