I tried the heating pad under my passover for one night. Set it on low. Although the pad was fairly warm and the furniture under it, the temp of the water in the humidifier didn't seem to change at all. I think the material the passover is molded with has an insulating property. You might try heating your distilled water in the microwave (not hot but warm) before you put it in. It should stay warm for at least an hour, maybe longer if it really is insulated. I decided it wasn't worth the hassle to try to warm it. I'm tolerating it cold just fine so far.
