I started out with the Goldseal. It lasted about 4 days before the area below my nose was so raw that I could no longer wear the mask. For a while I used a generic gel mask but it lasted about 4 months before it tore. Around this time I began reading a lot about the Mirage Nasal Mask. Because of the rave reviews I decided to give it a shot. Changed CPAP for me.

It sits very lightly on your face. That is actually the key to it. It has, not sure the official name, something like an inflatable gasket on the outside edge that meets your face. When the CPAP is turned on it inflates and molds to your face and creates a seal. It is so light and you keep your straps so lose that you hardly know the mask is there. The "hose over the head" design is great to. Keeps the hose from becoming tangled around you at night. Some people have gone so far as to place hooks on the wall over their bed and created elaborate support systems so the hose basically does not come in contact with them at all.

The Full Face version works on the same principle as the nasal, but most would agree it fell far short of the excellence the nasal mask achisved. It still is probably the best full face mask though.

I would definately recommend giving it a shot.
