There seems to be a dispute as to the severity of this situation. I think it is not just the breeze drying the mucous membranes but also the consequent depletion of anti-oxidants that are so vital in the aqueous humor.
I would consider this a serious situation and would make certain that the mask is well adjusted or the situation is remedied in some fashion.
