I had that surgery(May,99).For me,the bone does not show and there is no physical mark people can see on my face. I have as as a side effect:

1-My lower font teeth are numb
2-my tongue is a bit advanced. If I forget,I slightly bite on it at the front and either side
3-I can feel the little screws and the bone sides when I press my finger against my chin
4-No one noticed or mentioned any change in my voice or physical appearance.
Each person will have a different outcome from this or any other operation
