Page,

I am sorry that you are having to go through this difficult experience. I do not see in this or past posts an explanation of why a trach is your only remaining option. However, do you know that the trach will be permanent? Is it possible that following the trach (which apparently is now necessary) something in your condition will change for the better so that some other treatment will be able to work down the road? If so, I understand that the trach is reversible and you may not have to live with it the rest of your life. I really don't know enough about your situation, but is there no hope that the trach will not be permanent?

In any case, I encourage you to have the trach as soon as is necessary. It sounds as if you truly need it. I know there are people on this forum who will be able to help you learn to cope with it. Don't give up on your life because of fear of the unknown. If it is truly necessary, I hope that you will find the strength to go through with it. If it means anything to you, I will pray that you will be able to work through this.

Brian
