red eyes from leaks?

Posted by dawn on April 19, 2000 at 08:02:01:

I have been using CPAP for almost three months (and feel great)! I am using a Simplicity mask with a Virtuoso LX CPAP. The last few weeks, I have had occasional problems with my eyes being extremely bloodshot (and sometimes irritated). While I may have a virus, because I don't have the problem every day, I'm wondering if the problem could be air blowing into my eyes from a leak in the mask during the night. My husband has not noticed any snoring and while I have to adjust the mask occasionally during the night to eliminate leaks when I roll over, I would think the leaks would have to be noticeable and prolonged in order to cause the red eyes. If it was leaks, I would think my red eyes would go away shortly after waking, but they tend to stay red through the entire day. Any ideas?

Thanks.
