Ditto the above folks. Increased weight, loud snoring, excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS)= obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).The OSA leads to frequent arousals- your brain is partially waking up- and frank awakenings, which leads to fragmented, disturbed sleep, which leads to the EDS. Not being able to get back to sleep after an awakening is a symptom of insomnia, which should go away with treatment. Print out some info on the subject, which is all over the 'net, bring it to your doctor, and simply say "I've got all of the symptoms of OSA, and I want to get diagnosed and treated." Do yourself a huge favor, and do it ASAP.
