bariatric surgery and apnea

Posted by Cindi on September 22, 1998 at 12:57:10:

Well, perhaps some help will be comming soon for me...see "HMO Woes" posted earlier. My husbands insurance company will cover durable medical equipt., and they cover surgery for weight loss w/another life threatning condition. (I am sure I qualify.) Have any of you friends out there had this surgery? I have been told by a very good sleep doctor that he would like to see me have the surgery. would i be in any danger while under due to the apnea? my saturation levels are very low. I am not afraid of the surgery or of the changes required for maintainance after. he has referred me to a very good surgen, but I would like to hear from some out there who know the possible results, and ins and outs. I am happy about the new insurance coverage-now if I can make it until Jan 1, when the new coverage kicks in!!! Thanks ahead of time. Sleep well all! Cindi
